Fire Island, New York

Amazing island off the coast of Long Island. The place where I used to go to the beach in the summer. Isn't it awsome?

Conforming
I was recently reading a review on Halo 3. It mentioned that some churches were using Halo 3 as a tool to draw teenagers in so that they can be witnessed to. At first glance it seems like a good idea. As I was thinking about it i realized that this is not what churches should be doing. Romans 12:2 ,"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." I feel that Satan is deceiving the church, and he has disguised something that is bad, and has made us think that it is good to try to turn that around and use it for good. Isaiah 5:20 says,"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter". Please let me know what you think of this.

I can see what you're getting at here...
However, conforming to the pattern of the world would be using the game for the sole purpose of fun. Also, something is only bad if it's being used badly. Having an activity where you play Halo 3 and witness to kids would only be bad if the kids weren't exposed to God's word. It's all how it's used.
great job Erik,
That was amazing and you really got your point across. I can see that in many churches we are conforming to the ways on the world. For example: a lot of churches have ATM machines in their lobby so they can bye food at their CAFE. What's up with that?
bye, bye

See, I can see why the church is using H3 to get kids to come. Because most kids aren't going to come if they know that all they will do is sit there watching a guy talk for an hour.
...just as long as the church doesn't promote the game.
I have to agree with Curtis here. We had an unsaved kid that goes to our youthgroup, but kinda stopped coming because we never did anything fun. (All we ever did was lessons and stuff) I'd be certain he'd come if we played halo 3 at our church.
